The second task is to create a "loop state" program by designing an infinite loop animation in processing 3. I recently became interested in Generative Art, so I wanted to try something generative in this project, but in the end (most) didn't do so because I couldn't find a way to connect it with data. Data is the reason why the statistics used in our previous work exist. It is estimated that the New Zealand health survey 2019 / 20 found that:
Around 1 in 3 adults (aged 15 years and over) were obese (30.9%) - the prevalence of obesity in adults varies by race. The first step in doing some research. From this point, I infer that there are two main reasons for its existence: many people lack exercise, so the body can't reduce calories. Heavy drinking and overeating can also increase the risk of obesity. I know that my mastery of programming means that I can create almost everything I have prepared in a few days, and because I received feedback and hope to do more widely in this project than in the previous project, I decided to spend most of my time in the conception stage.
There are 10 adults in a circle. Only 30.9% of adults are obese. They get fat slowly by eating.
Some very literal ideas on this page
Among my last four preliminary thoughts, one is about poor diet; one is about medical reasons and one is about genetics. After talking to my mentor, I realized that I think the strongest idea is to distribute ideas. The next step is to gather some priorities for aesthetics. Originally, I didn't want people to get involved, because I didn't think the circular state was the best state for people to be involved. If obese people are highlighted, they will feel discriminated. However, after discussing with my tutor, I decided to include 100% of the people into the cycle. Then, when the obese people reach up to 30.9%, light them up with spotlights.
According to the comments, I modified the original painting to highlight that the reasons for 30.9% of adults' obesity come from too much junk food, medicine and genetic factors. When these 30.9% people are screwed onto small boxes, they will be lighted by spotlights, indicating that they are the most dazzling people among 100% adults. In the meantime, the spotlight also manifests the mental stress of these obese patients. When 100% people are screwed onto the small box, they will fall down from the small box and then return to the big box through the other side of the small box, forming a cycle. When 30.9% people are screwed up, the spotlights will follow them.
Thus I created my first visuals using Photoshop:
This is my first attempt
I started writing code. I had some problems with "the switch on the box", "the switch on the box on the right" and "people's direction", but managed to get a working version completed at the end of the day.
The next day after writing the code, I finally got the final product.
In the design process, there is the problem of personnel arrangement. I finally used the conveyor belt to arrange people, and I finally adopted the "loop" design, because 3 out of 10 people are obese. Their obesity comes from different reasons. The following is a GIF presentation:
